Transcript

I am sure both Jake and Tammy were caught up in important business, so important that we could debate if neglecting the kid was initially justified or not. It’s no surprise that Billy ran to Nanny in all this drama. After all, he probably trusted her more. Our story, although it is pretty intense, points out something much more common than the dangers of electrocution; mistaken priorities.

We always try to prioritize those things or actions that we believe will produce the best results for us. And looking for the best result is completely legitimate. The problem is that sometimes we mix up the criteria that define what is more valuable and what is less valuable. And we act accordingly.

We believe that having a nice job, backed up by savings, will give us the security that we need for the future. ‘I am building a future for myself and my kids.’ Have you heard that before? Ironically, the very same people who make that claim are those who are most likely to lose their family, together with their faith, while trying to secure that bright future for themselves.

In order to change your priorities you first need to change the order of your values. Now that we have the theory right, how can we make sure that we apply it correctly in our daily lives? While you think about this, let me give you a tip:

How you spend your time tells you what is most valuable to you.’
