If the warning had been posted in large CAPITAL LETTERS on the flyer, Lester might not have been attracted to it. By the time Matt discovers the “Warning”, Lester has passed the “no turning back” point.

Although this particular case is pretty extreme, Lester’s behaviour is typical of our generation. Lester’s decision is absurd because we all understand that great opportunities cannot be traded for momentary pleasures, regardless of their intensity.

And life is a great opportunity; it’s filled with countless other opportunities. Like Lester, sadly, we get used to looking for pleasure that is short-lived and will all too often be of no benefit to us. Thus we trade valuable pieces of our lives for the thrill and excitement, disregarding the future consequences.

The good news is that not all pleasure is bad. We need to ask ourselves how we can correctly evaluate the importance of it and distinguish between pleasure that is good, and that which is bad. While you think about this, let me give you a tip: Ask yourself, will there be fulfillment when the thrill) is over?
